No excuses for the Cowboys anymore -- Can they figure it out?

Halloween may be over, but Aaron Rodgers is still haunting the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys fall to the Green Bay Packers in overtime 31-28, after the Cowboys gave up a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter. This loss hurts, and it proves one thing – the Cowboys are still the same ol’ Cowboys.

For years, the Cowboys have whooped up on teams that are clearly less talented than they are and seem to fall short to the good teams in the league that they need to beat. There are zero excuses as to why the Cowboys lost the game on Sunday after the Packers were on a five-game losing streak.

When are we going to see this team beat the teams they need to beat?

Sure, we can point out Dak Prescott’s two interceptions that may or may not have been entirely his fault – but the Cowboys were still up 28-14 in the fourth quarter even after those turnovers. We can also point out the officiating and how they handled calling penalties in this game. However, the Cowboys should have played well enough to not allow officiating to dictate the outcome of the game. The Cowboys can only blame themselves for this loss, specifically the defense who couldn’t stop the Packers’ rushing attack at all, and it doesn’t get any easier for this team over the next few weeks.

Dallas will travel to Minnesota this Sunday to take on the Vikings (8-1), who just outlasted the Super Bowl favorite Buffalo Bills in what might be the game of the year, and then four days later the Cowboys will host their division rival on Thanksgiving, the New York Giants (7-2).

The Cowboys needed to win this game and make a statement to the rest of the NFC. The Cowboys needed to finally take down a demon from their past to get where they want to go. If the Cowboys couldn’t beat a depleted Packers team that was on the verge of losing their entire season, then what is so different about this year’s Cowboys team?

This offense needs to be better – plain and simple.

It is approaching week 11 in the NFL and the Cowboys’ offense still has miscommunication issues and receivers are not able to get open. If the Cowboys couldn’t beat the Packers and lose to Minnesota or New York, will Odell Beckham Jr. even want to come to Dallas? I wouldn’t think so.

The Cowboys’ defense has to figure out how to stop the run. The Cowboys are set to face some of the league’s best running backs through the rest of the season, which could spell bad news for this defense.

Just one week ago we were wondering if the Cowboys could steal the #1 seed in the NFC going into the playoffs, and now we are left to wonder if this team can even get to the postseason. There are still a lot of question marks on this Cowboys team after the halfway point of the season, and the Cowboys are running out of time to find answers.

The Cowboys sit in third place in the NFC East and still have three more games against the rest of their division. The playoffs aren’t out of reach for the Cowboys by any means, but if the Cowboys cannot fix some of the same issues that have plagued this team for years, then it could get ugly for the Cowboys come January.

All of this falls on Mike McCarthy and Kellen Moore PERIOD!!! These are two if the most inept so called Coaches in the NFL or anywhere else for that matter. McCarthy, the VILLAGE IDIOT and KELLEN MOORE the MIST NON-PREPARED OC in the history of the league. The talent is there, Moore is simply IN OVER HIS HEAD!!! Should've stomped a mudhole in Green Bay's Ass! Aaron Rodgers continues to make the Cowboys the League Clowns every time they play us. Where's the pride? Where's the Leadership? Where's the Accountability? Where, on this team is that one-guy that will speak up and speak out? At this point, don't worry about hurting someone's feelings. Hell, that's what's needed! McCarthy can't and won't do it. Personality Not Strong Enough. Moore is just a simpleton masquerading as a genius. His ass has been exposed on a weekly basis. Personally, I think this season is officially lost. Hopefully they'll prove me wrong, but I just don't think so. The remedy is to jettison McCarthy's stupid fat ass along with incompetent and idiotic Kellen Moore. Watch the team get better after those moves are made.

Good article, Christian. If a family doctor diagnoses a patient's lung cancer as a simple cough and prescribes cough syrup. Everyone who knows and loves that patient LOVES this diagnosis as it is not dangerous or serious and is easy to fix. When other doctors point out that the symptoms clearly point to a much more dangerous condition, the family doctor calls them alarmists and proclaims that none of them understand modern medicine. The IS EXACTLY the situation in Dallas. Family doctors Jerry and Stephen Jones have already diagnosed the problem as potentially penalties, refs, run defense, coaching, and of course, bad luck... anything and everything EXCEPT what it actually is - Dak Prescott. If Dak played 100 games each against Rogers and Brady, he would lose 200 times. He CANNOT beat elite teams or even average teams with elite quarterbacks. I ask anyone reading this to be that patient for just a moment, and ask yourself if you would prefer the simple cough diagnosis or the devastating lung cancer diagnosis? For me, I will face the hard truth and engage the best professionals in the world to help me get healthy. Jerry will just buy another case of Robitusin.

Marcus, I respectfully disagree that Prescott is the main problem. He MUST play better period! That big contract is an anchor around his neck until he consistently gets it done for the Cowboys. The REAL PROBLEMS are McCarthy and Moore. Both possess ZERO LEADERSHIP ABILITY!!! Jimmy Johnson wouldn't be 6 - 3 with this kind of talent on the roster. I firmly believe Sean Payton would have this team in better position right now if he was Head Coach . By the way, if Payton was the Head Coach, he'd also be calling the plays! BIG TIME UPGRADE OVER THAT CLOWN Kellen Moore. Prescott has his faults and shortcomings, but I believe if he was bring Coached better he'd play better. He's not going to get that with McCarthy and Moore.

Good article Christian, agree Cowboys have pretty much run out of excuses. They have to execute the plays on the football field, not on the sidelines. And BTW, this division is only getting more competitive, and it's not the same old same old. For years Cowboys had the advantage of being top dog in a weak division, getting an easier path to the Postseason. That's no longer the case, and that potentially makes getting into PS more difficult. Even Washington is making some noise (and they're getting Chase Young back soon), as they just beat the previously undefeated Eagles. This upcoming Viking game is going to be very telling in which direction this team is trending.
