Dallas Cowboys Select LB Chris Covington With the 193rd Pick in the 2018 NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys have added yet another linebacker, a position they desperately needed to upgrade prior to the 2018 NFL Draft. After taking Leighton Vander Esch in the first round, the Cowboys have taken LB Chris Covington, from Indiana University.

The Cowboys used their first sixth-round pick (No. 193 overall) on Indiana OLB Chris Covington.

Covington played with power in college and was able to have a successful season despite almost no experience at the position in 2017. Chris Covington’s ceiling isn’t high but he has the potential to become an important rotational player for Dallas.

At least, he’ll be a special teamer for Dallas.

His measurables are not very impressive, with average speed, but he’s a physical player and makes up for it with his competitiveness.

The Cowboys still hold two more draft picks today. Here at Inside The Star, we’ll continue updating you with the latest news!

This is really the only draft pick that didn't have value and I just don't understand it. There were other LBs still on the board. 1) Vänder Esch = BPA ++ NEED. He will help stuff the run. Great in coverage. Has 2 great mentors in Sean and Jaylon. Awesome reaction time. Measurable equal or superior to Trumaine Edmunds, with hjust as much upside. Roamer, Very good in coverage. (Note: ++ = major position need) 2) Connor Williams = BPA/NEED. We HAD one hole in the O-line and it was at Guard. Connor can fill that hole easily and has the flexibility to play C and T. They even called him a Guard when he was drafted. That is a BIG hint. 3) Michael Gallup BPA/Need. Not sure why folks seem so against this guy. 2nd rounder picked up in the 3rd. Great measurables and production. Mayock called him "Poor man's DJ Moore." - w/o using a 1st round to do it. To be able to go to the 3rd round and have picks that will be getting playing in starting roles, explains why Dave Brugler said Dallas had the 4th best draft of all the teams. To be graded as 4th best and to have started at #19 - Impressive!. Still, whiners gonna whine and haters are gonna hate. Go Cowboys!
