It was reported yesterday that Dallas police were seeing to question Kelvin Joseph regarding his involvement in the murder of Cameron Ray on March 18th. Today, Joseph’s lawyer confirmed that the Cowboys cornerback was a passenger in the car from which Ray was shot but was not the shooter or personally armed.

Joseph’s involvement in Ray’s murder is still a matter of ongoing investigation.

Last March, Cameron Ray and friends got into a dispute with other individuals outside of a Dallas bar. Shortly after the physical altercation, a vehicle drove past Ray’s group in a parking lot and shots were fired.

New: Cowboys CB Kelvin Joseph was a passenger inside a vehicle from which several shots were fired last month, killing a 20-year-old in the Old East Dallas area. But Joseph was unarmed that night and did not kill Ray, Joseph’s lawyer said. https://t.co/FN7snAGeSo

Joseph was a 2nd-round pick by the Cowboys in the 2021. He was expected to play a significant role in this season’s CB rotation and hopefully replace Anthony Brown as a starter by 2023.

Obviously, this matter will require significantly more investigation by all parties before we can begin to project Kelvin’s future. But with the 2022 NFL Draft just two weeks away, Joseph’s situation will likely make cornerback a higher priority now for Dallas.

Much more is still to come on this story.
