Ok, Cowboys fans. It’s time to take in some Blake Jarwin hype.

The 25 year old tight end had a breakout game of sorts back during the 2018 season finale, catching 7 balls for 119 yards and three touchdowns. Yes, it was against the Giants in a “meaningless” game, but nothing about Jarwin’s performance felt meaningless. It felt like foreshadowing.

Fast forward a few months and Jason Witten is returning to the team. Not to play in the rumored limited role, of course, but to be the starting tight end. Sorry, Blake Jarwin hype train, you’ll have to wait another year.

Well here we are.

Jarwin and quarterback Dak Prescott have a clear connection, one he couldn’t find with Witten during the 2019 season. Even in limited snaps, Jarwin caught three touchdowns a year ago, and was clearly the team’s best option at the position after the catch.

He offers athletic upside, and could be the seam threat that Prescott really hasn’t had during his career.

#Cowboys TE Blake Jarwin:- No. 6 among TEs in 2019 yards per target- No. 8 among TEs in 2019 yards/route run- Signed 4-year, $22M extension with DAL- Average Draft Position (FFPC ADP): TE18

According to EstablishTheRun.com’s Evan Silva, Jarwin is being quite under-drafted relative to his potential value. And with Witten, who was targeted about double the times that Jarwin was in 2019 gone, 2020 should be Jarwin’s chance to shine.

Cowboys fans have been accused of overrating their players in the past, and like most fanbases this tends to be true. But the Blake Jarwin hype is both real and justified heading into the 2020 season. I’d own as many Jarwin shares as I can, especially if I missed out on the top flight tight ends (Travis Kelce, George Kittle, etc.) earlier in my fantasy draft.

Oh, and in the world of real football: Blake Jarwin is the unquestioned starting tight end with little but question marks behind him on the depth chart. He’s going to play and play a lot.

Something I’m sure quarterback Dak Prescott is looking forward to seeing.
