The 2024 season was a disappointing one for the Dallas Cowboys, but even with that, they still had some players shine and do what they always do.
With a big offseason on the way for Jerry Jones and the rest of the front office, they not only have a decision to make on the future of Mike McCarthy, but also when and how much they are going to sign Micah Parsons for.
Even missing four games due to a high ankle sprain, Micah Parsons still found a way to make sure he etches his name into the NFL history books.

During the Dallas Cowboys opening drive against the Washington Commanders, yesterday, Parsons recorded two sacks, giving him 11.5 on the season.
That means he’s done this in all four seasons he’s been in the league, which is a rare feat.
It’s so rare that Parsons is just the fifth player in NFL history to accomplish it. He now joins superstars such as Reggie White, Derrick Thomas, Claude Humphrey, and Dwight Freeney.
Parsons said there’s no question he wants to remain in Dallas. “I called upon the star. I landed on it, and I’m grateful. I feel like I got one of the best jobs in America.”
Parsons on wanting to get his next contract done as soon as possible:
“I don’t want to hold anybody up. I want to see some of these (free agents) back in this locker room. We have a great opportunity. I want to see change. I want to see players here. I want to be as aggressive as we can be. I don’t want to be a headache to nobody.”
Some Fans Want to Do What?
The Cowboys have a first ballot Hall of Famer in Micah Parsons, yet fans and people on the media, including Colin Cowherd have said the Dallas Cowboys should trade him.
Yes, trade a generational player who you find once or twice in the draft outside the top 10.
Trading Parsons for more assets just doesn’t make sense. Even if they did do that, they would not get close to the return in any draft for what they have gotten from him thus far to start his career.
Micah has already said that he will not sit out this offseason, and take less money to stay with this team.
Let’s be honest though, he does love to do this podcast, and he knows that being in Dallas gives him the best audience and people will continue to talk about him and the team through the good and the bad.
That will give him different topics to use on his show, and so on.
You don’t trade a player like Micah and if Jerry Jones does the unthinkable, I am sure any hope that anyone has left for him will be gone forever. I have already lost that hope, but some is still there for others, even though it shouldn’t be.
From ESPN Research: Micah Parsons has his 15th career game with multiple sacks, breaking a tie with Greg Ellis for 3rd-most in Cowboys history (sacks first tracked in 1982). DeMarcus Ware is the leader with 24, followed by Jim Jeffcoat with 18.
Hopefully this offseason will go better than the last. Jerry has to add some dudes to this team and help them out. It showed that they did not have enough talent even when Dak and CeeDee were healthy.
They have the 12th pick in the draft, and it will be interesting to see who they take, but that alone will not be enough to compete in the loaded NFC.
