What Daks Injury Means for The Cowboys 1

This is gonna be hard to say. Last night was rough for Cowboy fans as not only did they lose to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but Quarterback Dak Prescott is injured. This is a huge loss for the Cowboys team. So, now what can we expect after last night?

Here’s how Dak Prescott injured his hand pic.twitter.com/UVhn4nMkUk

As we can see, Dak’s thumb got hurt in this play resulting in his hand shaking uncontrollably for the next few downs. After examining Dak on the sidelines, the Cowboy staff decided to take him to the locker rooms for further testing.

After he left, backup Quarterback Cooper Rush came into play. Rush finished out the game for them but the final score was still 19-3, Tampa won. What does this mean for the Cowboys’ remaining season? Well to start, it seems Dak will be absent for a couple of weeks. There is no exact time on when he will return but that is what we can assume.

Even with Dak Prescott on the field, the Cowboys only had a total of three points. This is mainly because of our offensive line. Terrible job by them last night. Dak and Rush both had to sprint on just about every play to get out of the pocket due to the amount of pressure the defense was putting on our line.

This will probably be a stressful few weeks for the Cowboys as they still try to figure things out. The Cowboys will have to go through the next couple of weeks trying to scrap up some wins with their backup QB and line that can’t defend.

Prescott stated that he sees himself coming out of this injury better than before. He knows that these next few weeks will be difficult and he will plan on just resting up so he can come back to the game with a winning attitude.

Cowboy fans’ expectations overall should be close to nothing after the loss last night. A very poor performance by our offense and now a QB that’s hurt. While our defense looked spectacular, our offense just couldn’t pull it together.

Well there is a lot of blame to go around, but first and foremost, I see the QB position as one of the weakest on any “top-tier” NFL teams. I’ve never been a Dak fan, and once again I was proved right, much to my chagrin. He doesn’t see the field very well and the truth is that we’ve already seen his ceiling…not that high. CeeDee Lamb was open repeatedly and Dak didn’t see him. Lamb could easily bust a crossing seam route for a huge gain or a TD but Dak is barely able to throw a check down. The game plan also sucked. Didn’t get the TE ‘s involved until late. O-line penalties again killing drives….just Dallas being sloppy Dallas once again. Still, even when Dak is back, his ceiling is one playoff game maybe….would give anything to have a better QB….even like Jimmy G for example.

We all saw this coming. And Jerry says after the game it was "surprising". This team has barely beat any good teams in 5 seasons. Not all of the fault is on the line either. Dak had some poor decisions and throws too when he wasn't under tremendous pressure. This all falls on the feet of Jerry and his organization. Coaching? Moore will never lean on the run game. He can't wait to abandon it every week. Same old reverses every game. And McCarthy was gonna clean up the penalties. Right?!

The defense gave up 6 yards a carry to Fournette and the East is about run first teams. Yes, the Quinn defense can pass rush. But, it cannot stop the run. That is a scheme issue of being one dimensional. Offense...well, no offense line and no receivers was never going to work. No QB..really, Cooper Rush as backup...a guy you could confidently cut knowing no one would pick up?

The defense still managed to hold Tom Brady to 19 points which is impressive. Yes, they could have handled the running game better, but overall they gave the offense a chance. All the Cowboys had to do is score 20 points which is a somewhat below-average score for a football game and they would have won. I'm disappointed in the offense though all the way around.
