Cowboys WR Drew Pearson Elected to Pro Football Hall of Fame

The Pro Football Hall of Fame, in Canton, Ohio, is littered with Dallas Cowboys. Across several generations and dynasties, the Cowboys have 20 players, coaches, and front-office executives that made their primary contributions to the Dallas Cowboys. Even with a litany of members in the Hall of Fame, until last night, there had always been one name that was unjustly left out; Drew Pearson.

Pearson, who played for the Cowboys for 11 seasons from 1973 to 1983 was a three-time All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler. Pearson played in three Super Bowl games with the Cowboys and a part of the Super Bowl XII winning team that beat the Denver Broncos 27-10.

Pearson was an All-Decade selection to the 1970’s team but was the only member of that team that hadn’t been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

It’s an election that was a long-time coming and way past due. Pearson, the original “88,” set a standard and started a legacy that has carried on through fellow Hall of Fame member Michael Irvin, a recent star in Dez Bryant, and a star in the making in CeeDee Lamb.

Drew Pearson joins an illustrious 2021 class that features: Quarterback Peyton Manning, Wide Receiver Charles Johnson, Guard Alan Faneca, Safety John Lynch, Cornerback/Safety Charles Woodson, Coach Tom Flores, and Contributor Bill Nunn.

All I can say is it’s about time! Drew is one of those guys that have Represented the Cowboys well and is a person that every Cowboy Fan can be proud of! He also is one of those guys that didn’t want to play for anybody other than the Cowboys!

This is about more than football, this moment is greater than football. This is about determination, drive, focus, upward mobility, overcoming long odds. Congratulations to Mr. Pearson, his family, his friends, true Cowboy fans. No. 88, demonstrated, once again, that you cannot look at a person and measure his/her heart. Coach Landry, called him a “professional.”

  Yeah, it's amazing that someone so instrumental to the success of the Cowboys and Roger himself was left out for so long. Shows a Cowboys bias. Hopefully Darren Woodson won't have to wait so long. He's already overdue.
