The Dallas Cowboys lost a tough battle with the Eagles 28-23 Sunday afternoon.

After leading 17-14 at the half, the defense struggled with penalties that kept Eagles drives going.

The Dallas offense played as well as they could have in the first half.

Start of the second half

The defense started on the field, and it did not end well; they allowed Philly to drive for a touchdown to take the lead 21-17.

A touchdown pass from Jalen Hurts to DeVonta Smith was the result.

Where is this excellent defense this team is supposed to have?

Cowboys drive ends after that holding penalty

The second drive was again filled with questions. They could not find a way to put any pressure on Hurts.

The lack of resulted in another touchdown for the Eagles after two questionable calls, including a pass interference on Stephon Gilmore on a route where A.J Brown STOPPED running.

The refs need to chill with all these flags. This is a hell of a game between two really good teams. Let the men play ball! #Cowboys #Eagles

The offense had a heck of a drive for over 70 yards, but on fourth down, Luke Schoonmaker caught the ball at the half-yard line, which resulted in a turnover on downs.

The Cowboys’ defense was able to force a punt from their goal line.

Dak Prescott found Jalen Tolbert for a 7-yard score. But Prescott steps out on the 2-point play. Indeed a game of inches.

One last chance

Prescott and the offense had a chance to take the lead, but after crossing midfield, the Eagles defensive line forced two sacks on back-to-back plays to back up the Dallas offense.

On third down, Prescott found CeeDee Lamb for 13 yards. On fourth and 8, Prescott could not find Tolbert on a pass that was just a touch above his head.

Please tell me why Tolbert is the one we are trying to get the ball to with the game on the line.

You have Lamb and Cooks and even Ferguson, and you go to Tolbert?

Make it make sense.

The Eagles tried to give the game away with a fumble, but Micah Parsons could not bounce on it.

After a few calls that went the Cowboys’ way that should or should not have been called went their way.

The pass interference was apparent, but Dallas probably got a gift on the roughing of the passer call.

Either way, they had a chance.

The offense had the ball at the six-yard line, and after two sacks, the offense could not find the end zone, resulting in the loss 28-23.

Takeaways from the game

The offense was good enough to win the football game. Did they win the game with their chance? No, but Terrence Steele is bad. Let’s put that out there.

The defense struggled at times.

The main takeaway from this game is that the Cowboys can play with the best in football, and if you say they can’t, you are a hater.

This is the best Prescott has looked in a road game against an elite football team.

Did he leave two points out there by stepping out of bounds? Yes, but you can’t tell me he was the reason they lost the game.

The Cowboys’ defense had a bunch of random calls that went against them.

This one will sting, but this team showed they can play with the best in the NFC.

From a journalistic standpoint, this is about as poorly written as it can be. Hard to get past that basic fact.
  2. Jerry Connell
The Cowboys had their chances but didn’t get it done. No excuses. Barring an Eagle breakdown, wild Card is the way to the Playoffs.
  3. Anthony Zimmerman
This how every Eagles game is. Multiple flags against their in the second half. Go back and watch the games. Washington had them beat until penalties started . Make you think your in Kansas.
  4. Jack Miller
Cowboys didn't fall short!! The no call is all that beat the Cowboys!!
  5. Kenneth Cloud
    Go cowboys
  6. Tom Hooker
Look at the bright side. You gave Stephen A. Smith some Sunday night material.
  7. Ralph Arcuri
Jerry sucks! Should have made a deal for a RB because Pollard is not Emmit Smith! Dak can’t win the big games. He played well but should have got the 2 point conversion. Terrance Steele should of been replaced!
    1. Doug Mackenzie
Ralph Arcuri when you are 1st and goal on the 6 and then have offensive line commit a false start and allow 2 sacks you aren't gonna win and NO RN would have helped
    2. Jared Francis
Ralph Arcuri ppl always wana blame dak Dallas outplayed eagles period we lost to the refs and u obviously don’t know ur players why would we replace Terrence Steele
  8. David Getchell
DAK don't take a sack. Dak don't get a delay a game penalty, hike the fucking ball. Stop changing the play five times every play. YOUR NOT PAYTON MANNING!!!!!!!

Jared Francis Its not always about the numbers, its the little things in crunch time he's has always screwed up.

So close and yet.... The cowboys still suck
  11. Carianne La Motta Gengaro
No the refs beat the Cowboys
  12. Glenn Guillory
McCarthy stupid sorry a$$ has got to get WR Brandin Cooks more involved in that offense and stop forcing passes to Gallup...this guy is just not giving them much at all. Cooks should be fuming for lack of targets.
    1. Tommy Luhn
Glenn Guillory totally agree hard to tell without watching tape. Maybe he's not open or there having him run the wrong routes. Some time to throw would help some to. But agree he should be a least 2nd or 3rd read.
    2. Glenn Guillory
Tommy Luhn I keep looking at the goings on up there...to me...something is just not right. You trade for Cooks who's a better receiver than Gallup...and you refuse to get Cooks targets..instead force feeding passes to Gallup who can't beat one on one coverage.
    3. Tommy Luhn
Glenn Guillory agree we should have never paid that much for Gallup especially coming off season ending injury. Cooks is fast they should soften defenses up with him on slants and screens the setup the deep routes.
  13. Eleodoro Gonzalez
    You can't beat the refers
  14. Steve Preciado
Went exactly how I thought it would. Pretty evenly matched, no blow outs.
  15. Brian McVicker
    Steel sucks

NFL is for entertainment and we were entertained.
  17. Michael Fernandez
Next time they meet in Dallas..some calls will go our way
    1. Richard Corbett
Michael Fernandez even playing at home, COWBOYS GET jobbed by the officials
  18. Steve Stanton
Same Cowboys.Just can’t win the game they need to win.
    1. Steve Stanton
Certainly some iffy calls and no calls but they had their chances and just didn’t capitalize.Today,Philly was the better team
    2. Eleodoro Gonzalez
Steve Stanton no you can't beat the refers
  19. Mike Bauer
    We need a running game!
    1. Steve Stanton
Mike Bauer Absolutely. What we have today scares no one
  20. Victor Salazar
We lost a tough game to the refs
    1. Glenn Guillory
Doug Mackenzie And you? I'm LMAO...!!! Don't cherry pick a couple items...call the entire game like we all saw it.
    2. Tyson Farr
      Jeff Widun definitely agree
    3. Jeff Widun
Tyson Farr agreed, but always gonna have bad calls. Missed 2 point conversion, the sack, the delay of game, the false start...destroyed their last chance.
    4. Tyson Farr
Jeff Widun eagles last drive that was a touchdown should have never happened to many penalties that didn't get called
    5. Doug Mackenzie
Glenn Guillory wrong when Eagles needed defense to make a play to win they did when Dallas needs the defense to make a play against a good team they never do
    6. Glenn Guillory
Victor Salazar Cowboys fan here...Cowboys and Eagles got their fair share of penalties...two Eagles penalties on that Cowboys last drive helped the Cowboys get in position to possibly win that game...the Cowboys failed...McCarthy and Dak failed yet again when it mattered most.
    7. Jeff Widun
Victor Salazar seriously? The game was handed to Dak at the end. As usual he can't deliver the win.
    8. Joseph Jojola
Victor Salazar Dak needs to be benched. He sucks ass
