Cowboys draft new starting center Cooper Beebe with 73rd pick

The Dallas Cowboys have landed their Tyler Biadasz replacement with the 73rd pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Kansas State’s Cooper Beebe, a guy who was not expected to be here, is headed to Dallas.

We heard from Owner and General Manager Jerry Jones that center could be in play tonight.

That has come to fruition here.

Dallas reinforced the offensive line in the first round with Oklahoma Tackle, Tyler Guyton, clearly marking the big men up front as a top priority.

With Beebe, they have officially filled the shoes of both Biadasz and Tyron Smith.

To put it bluntly, this is a fantastic pick.

Beebe was getting early round buzz, and the only reason that did not happen was because of concerns of arm length.

Lucky for Beebe, moving inside to center lessens the need for long arms, so now we can just look at the positives of this pick.

Bebee is a force on the inside.

He is incredibly powerful at over 320 lbs, and his frame simply wows you when he steps on the field.

Strength is his game, and this shows up in big pancake blocks in the running game.

Because of that, it takes away from some quickness; he does not have the kind of get-off or lateral quickness that some desire.

At the end of the day, however, in the third round, this is as good as it gets on the interior offensive line.

Who Will Dallas Start?

Now, with the offensive line shaped up, the question is who will Dallas start in week one?

I think it makes sense to slide All-Pro Tyler Smith to left tackle and let Guyton develop for a little while.

This would put Beebe at either left guard over T.J. Bass, or center over Brock Hoffman.

Realistically, however, the Cowboys draft to start in the first round, and you can probably expect Guyton to start because of that.

This means you should see Guyton, Smith, Beebe, Zack Martin, and Terrence Steele in week one.

When this draft started, Dallas did not have anywhere near a formidable line.

Now, even if Guyton is raw, they have both a solid front and high potential for it to become elite in the long term.

I trust the Cowboys to develop offensive linemen, which is why I did not mind the Guyton pick.

If history tells us anything, it says Dallas may have just rebuild their offensive line for the future in this draft.

Beebe should be a day-one starter with ability and potential.
