2021 NFL Draft: Cowboys Select Nebraska G Matt Farniok

The Dallas Cowboys have selected Guard Matt Farniok with a 7th-round pick, 238th overall, in the 2021 NFL Draft. Farniok just completed his senior season at Nebraska.

Listed at 6’6″ and 330 lbs. by the Huskers, Farniok brings considerable size as a guard. He’s been a team captain the last two years for Nebraska.

With their 11th and final pick, Cowboys draft former Nebraska guard Matt Farniok in seventh round at No. 238. The frenzy to sign undrafted rookies is underway.

The Cowboys needed interior line help going into the draft but waited until the 7th Round to get it. Their only other offensive line pick was a tackle; Josh Ball from Marshall in the 4th Round.

While Dallas still has Connor McGovern as a versatile G/C backup, another spot on the 53-man roster is currently open with Joe Looney remaining an unsigned free agent.

Welcome to the Cowboys, Matt Farniok!

So we picked a 6th round corner as our best bet to become a safety , smh , agree with your grade J Young . I like the Parsons pick especially with the fact that both Horn and Surtain were gone Ok with the Joseph pick at 2 , lot of potential, but has some character concerns Nashon Wright was a big time reach , taking him over Meli and Ambry Thomas both are better prospects , but cuz Wright has the height and length DQ wants , we took him over those guys , sounds familiar Cox was a great value pick in 4th , gives us some much needed depth at LB which we need with LVE and his health concerns Ball pick was a head scratcher Fehoko was a decent pick in 5th I like the Bohanna pick more than other ppl do, he's a cheap fix for our 1-tech , but there maybe a reason why it's a cheap fix , "a get what you pay for" kind of reason Like the mukuamu pick in sixth round , this is where i look for guys that just fit what I'm wanting in my players such as CB or Safety , but the boys decided to do that 3 rounds earlier Ok pick with Matt Farniok Overall a MEHHHH draft , we didn't address Safety except with the fact that we have to have one these Corners transition to Safety , which is easier said than done , and we only spent a sixth on DT though it's the kind of DT we need , still though , would've liked to have seen us trade some of our picks to get another 2 rounder and maybe get McNeill then , or a Safety , A C to C+ draft

I can't understand why this team hates investing in safety! And I know they don't think going into the season that the 2 safeties from Atlanta is the final piece!? I hope they get some safeties in the undrafted pool! If they don't we're in big trouble!

I'll be shocked if he's not a PS guy. I just can't see him cracking the 53 unless there are some injuries. He screams under the radar development guy that will easily clear waivers.

Not a bad late round pick for a player who has experience at all 5 positions along the line. Never heard of the kid but could be a nice depth piece for our oline
